Why T-Tie®

Background

My Name is Sheri Grant, the creator of the patented T-Tie® . I grew up in South Africa where my father was a leading expert in the Health and Fitness Industry. Hy Able, my father, was a pioneer in the diet industry and owner of a world-renowned fitness and health spa .

I grew up in a world of fitness and body consciousness and have had 30 years of training in ballet, modern jazz and contemporary dance, martial arts and aerobics. I have worked as a fitness instructor, personal trainer and Wellness Consultant in South Africa, Canada and America, I have trained celebrities including Sidney Sheldon, Laura Hunt and many others. I also danced professionally and toured for 4 years with various dance companies performing in large stage musical productions e.g, Joseph, Mame, James Coco production of Joe Masiel 'Not at The Palace' etc..... After moving from Vancouver to California in 1999, I used my knowledge and diversity to create my own style of exercise called Pilet which is a unique form of body conditioning derived from four separate art forms combining Ballet, Yoga, Pilates and Martial Arts into one very unique discipline.

I have taught this style for 5 years in Orange County and as a result of the growing number of students and their love for Pilet, I created a DVD which is available online at www.pilet.us.

How T-Ties began!

Through all my travels and training everyone who knows me knows that I do not train without a sweater wrapped around my waist. I have always used my sweat shirts as my towel and have for the past 25 years.

My students used to joke about the many sweaters I wore.... but they all began to follow me, so that, when I one day gave a class and walked in, every one of my students had a sweater around their waist. After moving to California, I stopped by a well known gym. As I walked in they questioned me as to where my towel was.... I pointed at my sweater which was around my waist and as usual they let me go in. The light bulb went off, and thus the connection was made......the rest is history!
